Sierra began to search for breakfast restaurants we could eat at, however, we couldn't find many. The locations we did find were farther away from our hotel, and it frankly wasn't worth driving there. Instead, we went down to eat in our hotel.
Jessie ordered Toasted Ham, Cheese, and Tomatoes, Katelin got the Chicken Soup, Sierra gobbled up the Open Bacon & Egg, Ayesha ate the Omelette, and Sarah got the Bacon & Eggs. We took a long time to eat our breakfast since we were all engaged in a conversation about the Mount Hagen Show. We were planning on going back to the show sometime in the early afternoon. All of us were thrilled to go back to the show and watch more performances. Because we watched most of the show yesterday, we weren't going to spend as much time today. Plus, we were going to leave for Port Moresby in the evening. We had to leave some time for packing our suitcases and traveling to the airport.
At 11:30 am, we went back to our rooms and played another game of cards. Jessie and Katelin began to watch some TV, while Sarah and Ayesha logged on to their social media accounts. Sierra went out onto the balcony because she wanted a period of solitude and she liked looking at the scenery and the landscape of Mount Hagen. A couple hours later, we began to get ready for the show. Jessie cleaned her camera lens and Katelin and Sierra packed some pop tarts and water bottles to take with us. Ayesha and Sarah freshened up in the bathroom, and then we headed out.
Before we drove to the show, we wanted to eat lunch. At 1:00 pm we arrived at the Palmuri Restaurant. We could smell the seafood aroma from outside. We entered the restaurant and chose a table to sit at. The waitress told us that we could pick from the buffet first, and then order items from the menu if we wanted to.
All of us got plates and examined the variety of food options in the buffet. In the end, Katelin got seasoned shrimp and Ayesha took some fried salmon. Jessie, Sarah, and Sierra decided to eat from the menu instead. Jessie ate the Mt. Wilhelm trout, Sarah ordered pasta, and Sierra wanted to eat pizza from the separate pizza menu. The food was fairly good, but it was similar to food we eat back in North Carolina. However, it was nice to eat food that we were used to after consuming a lot of native foods. We all thought the food was priced high compared to the other places we dined at on our trip. This was probably the case because the restaurant was connected to a hotel and the prices can be a little higher than usual.
Mt Hagen Show (Culture): At 2 pm, we called a taxi to take us to the Mount Hagen Show. We soon arrived and the familiar sounds once again took hold of our ears.
We sat in a different spot from yesterday, because we wanted to see the show from a different view. We saw the tribes take control of the green grounds as they performed. It was clear that the music, songs, and dances were different from yesterday, and there were also some tribes we didn't recall seeing before. It was as if we were reliving the same experience again.
Jessie immediately took out her camera and began to snap photos of the stunning performances in front of us. As we watched, we ate our pop tarts that we brought with us and washed it all down with water. The noise and the sun shining down on us brightened our mood. We started never-ending conversations while observing the show.
Hours quickly went by and it soon became 5 pm. Just like yesterday, we got up to stretch and walk around. As we were walking, we saw a long row of displays. We sauntered closer and saw arts and crafts. Extravagant details could be seen to create objects and even stories. They definitely were beautiful to look at, and we wondered how long they might have taken to be made.
At around 5:30 pm, we agreed to leave and return to our hotel. We hailed a taxi and took one last glance at the tribes before closing the car door.

After reaching our hotel rooms, we began to pack all our belongings into our suitcases. Our flight to Port Moresby was going to depart at 7:00 pm. We rode in a taxi to the Mount Hagen airport and hurried over to security. The line wasn't very long, and about 45 minutes later, we were on our way to our gate to where we would board the plane. We arrived at the gate at around 6:30 pm, and relaxed for a while until boarding began. Soon we were on the plane in our seats waiting for takeoff.
The 2-hour 30-minute plane ride was honestly, restless, and tiring. It was hard to sleep because of the turbulence and the cold temperature inside the plane. There wasn't much that we could do since we didn't want to be awake any longer. Dinner was served on the plane, but most of us didn't have the appetite to eat disgusting airplane food. It felt like days went by until we reached Port Moresby at 9:30 pm.
Once in Port Moresby, we dragged our bags off the plane and stepped outside the airport and into the warm air. We called for a taxi and told the driver to take us to the Raintree Lodge. This was the same hotel we stayed in at the beginning of our trip. We finally reached our hotel and clambered up the steps that led to our rooms. We had practically collapsed on the beds and didn't even bother to unpack our bags or brush our teeth. We fell asleep soon after we got to the hotel.
